Whether you choose cards randomly or in order, the point is the same: find a connection between what you read on the card and a problem that is bothering you – the connection
can be direct, indirect, or even symbolic. Once you find the connection, you can start brainstorming on possible solutions. You can use the cards even if you are not thinking
about a specific problem, but you want to improve your critical thinking.

1. MORNING ROUTINE: Start your day by drawing a card! Let the card’s message guide your approach to the day’s tasks. You’ll be surprised at the new perspectives you’ll discover – and you’re guaranteed to have fun!
2. JOURNALING: Pick a card every day and write a journal entry about it – check it out at mindshiftcards.com. Discover how the card relates to your experiences and how it can influence your decisions. A regular diary gives a great overview of your progress. Flip it through from time to time to see patterns and breakthroughs.
3. GAME PLAY: Put yourself in someone’s shoes (it could be a historical figure or even a fictional character) and draw a card, then think about how they would act on the problem.
4. TIME TRAVEL: Think about how the message of that card would have been interpreted in another time, this technique will broaden your horizons.
5. VIZUALIZATION: Pick a card and imagine a scenario in which this technique could play a key role. This exercise will sharpen your imagination and prepare you to solve a real problem.

How to use the cards as a team?

Work with the team pictogram cards, using one of the following methods:

• BEST WINS: Deal one card to each team member. Each person argues for the method of his or her card, then vote and start with the method that gets the most votes. Keep going until you have a solution.
• TIMED CHALLENGE: The previous version can be further improved. If there are several smaller teams, take advantage of the competitive spirit. Set a timer and see which team solves the challenge the fastest
• BRAIN TEASERS’ CAROUSEL: If you’re not racing against the clock, hand out 1-2 cards to everyone and let members demonstrate what they’ve come up with. The round continues until everyone has had a turn with all their cards. This ensures that you can explore each issue from different perspectives.
• CARD AMBASSADOR: Each team chooses a representative to draw cards for their team. Teams then come up with solutions based on the cards drawn. After a few rounds, swap representatives.
